About the Program
Paul Tough, editor at the New York Times magazine, profiles Geoffrey Canada, President and CEO of the Harlem's Children Zone an organization that believes in providing multiple resources to tackle educational and social issues. Mr. Canada contends that children in poverty must not only have their educational lives changed but their neighborhoods as well. The Harlem Children's Zone currently serves over 9,000 children and encompasses 97 city blocks. Paul Tough discusses his book with Geoffrey Canada as part of the 2008 Brooklyn Book Fair in New York City.

Geoffrey Canada
Geoffrey Canada is the President and CEO of the Harlem's Children Zone. He is the recipient of several awards for his work, including the McGraw Prize for Education, Jefferson Award for Public Service, and Heinz Award. Mr. Canada is the author of "Fist Stick Knife Gun: A Personal History of Violence in America."
