Ashraf Ghani and Clare Lockhart look at why past efforts to fix failed states have not worked and argue for a strategy that involves the international community.  Both authors played a role in rebuilding the government in Afghanistan following the overthrow of the Taliban.  This event was hosted by the Asia Society in New York City.

Ashraf GhaniAshraf Ghani served as finance minister in Afghanistan following the overthrow of the Taliban government. He is currently chairman of the Institute for State Effectiveness.
