About the Program

In 2007, Rep. Charles Rangel wrote a political memoir, "And I Haven't Had a Bad Day Since: From the Streets of Harlem to the Halls of Congress." The book describes his Harlem childhood, his service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, his involvement in the Civil Rights Movement, and his 40 plus years as a congressman representing New York's 15th district. Rep. Rangel is interviewed by Jim Mills, then a  Senior Editor for Fox News.

Since 1970, Rep. Charles Rangel, a Democrat, has represented New York's 15th Congressional District, which comprises East and Central Harlem, the Upper West Side, Washington Heights and Inwood. He served for many years as the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee until 2010, when he resigned as Chair while being investigated for financial irregularities.  He served during his career as Chairman of the Board of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and he is a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus. Congressman Rangel served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 52, during which time he fought in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He is a graduate of New York University and St. John's University School of Law.
