About the Program
Author Jennet Conant was a guest on Booknotes to talk about her book "Tuxedo Park: A Wall Street Tycoon and the Secret Palace of Science That Changed the Course of World War II." In the book, Ms. Conant tells the story of Alfred Lee Loomis, a Wall Street tycoon who used his wealth to fund a science laboratory for the world's leading scientists. Ms. Conant tells the story of a man who bought Hilton Head Island in South Carolina as a private game reserve, then at the height of his Wall Street career, retired and devoted the rest of his life to science.
