About the Program

Richard Brookhiser recounts the life of Gouverneur Morris, the one legged colonial aristocrat from New York who helped draft the U.S. Constitution at the age of 35, and crafted the phrase "We the people." The author recounts how Morris help create the Erie Canal and assisted the French as a diplomat during the French Revolution.  Gouverneus Morris died on November 6, 1816.
