"Among the Heroes: United Flight 93 & the Passengers & Crew Who Fought Back"

Jere Longman

About the Program

From the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, reporter and author Jere Longman discusses his book "Among the Heroes." Mr. Longman shares the story of the passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93, the fourth plane to be hijacked on September 11th. Before the plane crashed in a field outside of Shanksville, Pennsylvania, a number of the passengers made phone calls to relatives and others on the ground, announcing that they planned to overtake the hijackers. The book relates the last moments of these men and women --as told through interviews with family and friends. It also provides biographical sketches of the passengers and crew, as well as information on the final days of the hijackers. In attendance are some of the family members of the crash victims.
