About the Program
Author Adrian Havill speaks about his book, "The Spy Who Stayed Out in the Cold," to an audience at The Cold War Museum in Washington, DC. The book is about former FBI agent Robert Hanssen's career as a counterintelligence expert and snitch for the former Soviet Union. Mr. Hanssen sold nuclear information as well as the names of double agents to the former Soviet Union and Russia in exchange for hundreds of thousands of dollars and gifts. Mr. Hanssen is currently awaiting sentencing by a federal court on 15 counts of espionage, attempted espionage, and conspiracy. After the presentation, Mr. Havill answered questions from members of the audience. Robert Hanssen was arrested for spying for the Soviet Union on February 18, 2001.
