Peter Mansoor, Gen. David Petraeus's executive officer in 2007 and 2008, talks about the short and long-term impact of the surge in Iraq.  20,000 additional troops were sent to the country in 2007 to stabilize it.  This event was hosted by the New America Foundation in Washington, DC.

Peter Mansoor

Col. Peter Mansoor (U.S. Army Retired) holds the General Raymond Mason Chair of Military History at Ohio State University. Col. Mansoor, founding director of the U.S. Army/Marine Corps Counterinsurgency Center, was part of the strategy group that proposed the surge strategy in 2007.  He is the author of "Baghdad at Sunrise."
