About the Program
Daniel Stashower recalls the plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln in February 1861, prior to Lincoln's inauguration ceremony. The plot, discovered by detective Allen Pinkerton, was to be executed in Baltimore as Lincoln stopped in the city en route to Washington, D.C. The author reports on Pinkerton and his associates' investigation and the challenge to convince Lincoln's advisors that the threat was legitimate. Daniel Stashower speaks at Anderson's Bookshop in Naperville, Illinois.
