Former New York City Mayor David Dinkins talks about growing up in Harlem and his eventual win over Ed Koch and Rudy Giuliani to become the first African-American mayor of the city.  During this event at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in New York City, Mayor Dinkins is introduced by Barnes & Noble executive chairman, Leonard Riggio.

David Dinkins served as mayor of New York City from 1990-1993.  He's currently a professor at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs and the host of “Dialogue with Dinkins” on WLIB radio in New York City.
