About the Program
Diane Ravitch argues that the education crisis in the U.S. stems from an effort to destroy our public education system by the private sector and Wall Street. She says that public school test scores and graduation rates are the highest they've ever been, but federal programs like No Child Left Behind and Race to the Top wrongfully give the impression that our teachers and students are underperforming. Ms. Ravitch spoke at the Free Library of Philadelphia.
Diane Ravitch, research professor of education at New York University, served as Assistant Secretary of Education and counselor to Secretary of Education Lamar Alexander from 1991 to 1993.
