Robert Kaplan is a senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security and chief geopolitical analyst at Stratfor.  He served on the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board from 2009 to 2011.  Mr. Kaplan's books include "Monsoon: The Indian Ocean and the Future of American Power" and "Balkan Ghosts: A Journey Through History."
