A U.S. military officer and Middle East expert analyzes thirty years of hostility between the U.S. and Iran and suggests that the failure of both sides to receive sincere offers for detente from the other may soon lead to full-blown war.  He discusses his analysis with former National Security Council official and CEO of the Stimson Center, Ellen Laipson.

About the Authors

David Crist

David Crist is a frequent adviser on the Middle East to U.S. military officials and a historian for the federal government.  Mr. Crist served in the Gulf War and did two tours in Afghanistan and Iraq with special operations forces as a Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve.
