Jonathan Cole is John Mitchell Mason Professor of the University at Columbia University.  He served as Provost and Dean of Faculties of Columbia University from 1989 to 2003.  Prof. Cole is co-author of “Social Stratification in Science” and co-editor of “The Research University in a Time of Discontent.”
