About the Program

Joanne Griffith examines the first term of the Obama administration and questions whether the President has sufficiently answered many of the issues facing the African American community.  Ms. Griffith interviews a collection of African American academics, including economist Julianne Malveaux, civil rights lawyer Michelle Alexander, and Van Jones, former advisor to President Obama.  Ms. Griffith speaks with Marc Anthony Neal, black popular cultural professor, Duke University and filmmaker Byron Hurt.  The panel is hosted by Hue-Man Bookstore in New York City.
