About the Authors

Eric Foner

Eric Foner is a history professor at Columbia University.  He is the author of several books on the Civil War, including Free Soil, Free Labor, Free Men.  Mr. Foner is a former president of the Society of American Historians, American Historical Association, and the Organization of American Historians.  Mr. Foner's The Fiery Trial was the recipient of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for History.  For more information, visit ericfoner.com.
