About the Program
In March 1964, Jacqueline Kennedy sat with historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. to record seven interviews totaling over eight hours that include the First Ladies remembrances of her husband's personal and political life on the campaign trail and in the White House. The tapes are being heard for the first time since they were recorded. Caroline Kennedy presents her mother's recordings followed by a panel discussion that includes, Michael Beschloss, Ted Widmer, and Richard Donahue from the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston.
Caroline Kennedy
Caroline Kennedy is the author of numerous books, including A Patriot's Handbook: Songs, Poems, Stories, and Speeches Celebrating the Land We Love. She is the President of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation.
Michael Beschloss
Michael Beschloss is a presidential historian and a regular contributor to PBS’s The Newshour. He is a trustee of the White House Historical Association, and a former trustee of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation. He has also served as a historian for the Smithsonian Institute.
Ted Widmer
Ted Widmer is the author of several books, including Martin Van Buren. He is the director of the John Carter Brown Library at Brown University and was a speechwriter and senior adviser to President Bill Clinton.
Richard Donahue
Richard Donahue is vice chairman of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. He was an assistant to President John F. Kennedy from 1960 to 1963.
