After Words

After Words: Jay Bahadur, "The Pirates of Somalia: Inside Their Hidden World," hosted by Clifford May, Foundation for Defense of Democracies

About the Program

Pirates from Somalia made international news with the capture of an American cargo ship in 2009 in eastern African waters and later the murder of four retirees sailing around the world.  Mr. Bahadur discloses who some of these men are and why they say they became pirates.  He discusses his exclusive time in their inner circle with former New York Times foreign correspondent and editor Clifford May, who now heads the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.
