A Glorious Army: Robert E. Lee's Triumph 1862-1863

Jeffry Wert

About the Program

Civil War historian Jeffry Wert recounts Robert E. Lee's command of the Confederate Army from June 1, 1862 to the Battle of Gettysburg.  Mr. Wert reports on General Lee's early military successes, which preceding Gettysburg threatened the Union capital.  The author contends that the aggressive military tactics that won Lee victory at the beginning of his command would lead to his defeat at Gettysburg.  Jeffry Wert speaks at the Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
