About the Program

From the 2011 Virginia Festival of the Book, a discussion about two court cases: one which concluded with a juvenile being sentenced to death and the other in which a mother was charged with engaging in child pornography after taking personal photos of her daughter.  Taking part in the discussion are Lynn Powell, author of "Framing Innocence: A Mother's Photographs, a Prosecutor's Zeal, and a Small Town's Response," and Laura Trevvett Anderson, co-author of "Anatomy of an Execution: The Life and Death of Douglas Christopher Thomas."

Laura Trevvett Anderson is a Methodist clergy member who works with men returning to society from correctional institutions.  She acted as a spiritual advisor to Douglas Christopher Thomas, the subject of her book.
