About the Program

William Hartung and David Eisenhower, grandson of Dwight Eisenhower, talk about President Eisenhower's farewell address - delivered on January 17, 1961 - in which he warned about the growth of a "military-industrial complex" in the United States.  William Hartung's latest book, "Prophets of War," chronicles the rise of the military contractor Lockheed Martin.  David Eisenhower's latest, "Going Home to Glory," looks at President Eisenhower's life after he left the White House.  This event was hosted by Barnes & Noble Booksellers in New York City.

William Hartung is director of the Arms and Security Initiative at the New America Foundation.  His books include "And Weapons for All" and "How Much Are You Making on the War, Daddy?"
