About the Authors

Hugh Shelton

Hugh Shelton was division commander of the 101 Airborne Division and Commander in Chief of U.S. Special Operations Command before becoming Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President Clinton. He stayed on in the position in the Bush administration and became a chief architect in the U.S. military response to 9/11.
