About the Program
Pulitzer Prize-winning author Kai Bird talks about growing up in the Middle East (Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon) at a time when the roots of the modern Arab-Israeli conflict were being laid. Mr. Bird spoke at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City. Kai Bird's Crossing Mandelbaum's Gate is a National Book Critics Circl award finalist for autobiography.

Kai Bird's books include "The Chairman: John J. McCloy" and "The Color of Truth: McGeorge Bundy and William Bundy." His 2005 biography of Robert Oppenheimer, "American Prometheus," co-authored with Martin Sherwin, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award.
