Jacques Barzun, who passed away at age 104 on October 25, 2012, was our guest on In Depth in 2001. Prof. Barzun was interviewed and took viewer questions for three hours.
Jacques Barzun (1907-2012)
Jacques Barzun was born in France in 1907 and emigrated to the United States in 1920. He was a history professor at Columbia University and, later, Dean of Graduate Faculties and Provost. He retired from teaching in 1975 to become a literary adviser at Charles Scribner's publishing house. He was the author of thirty books, the editor of five books, and the translator of ten books. His books include "From Dawn to Decadence," "Darwin, Marx, Wagner: Critique of a Heritage" "Berlioz and the Romantic Century", "The House of Intellect," "Science the Glorious Entertainment," "A Catalogue of Crime," "A Stroll with William James," and "The Culture We Deserve."
