On the Trail of the D.C. Sniper: Fear and the Media

Jack Censer

About the Program

Dr. Censer makes the case that the local Washington news media turned the D.C. Sniper case into a national issue by reporting in a way that increased the level of fear in people living in the capital area.  He also argues that the proximity to September 11th helped feed heightened anxiety.
