About the Program

Mr. Bell, author of The Irish Troubles: A Generation of Violence, 1967-1992, published by St. Martin's Press, described his research for the book. He said he conducted over 10,000 hours of interviews for the nearly 1,000 pages of text in the book, which focuses on the conflict between Protestants and Catholics in Ireland and the United Kingdom.

J. Bowyer Bell

J. Bowyer Bell reaserched guerilla groups all over the world and published serveral books on variousl global terrist groups.  His works include The Secret Army: the IRA 1916-1970The Long War: Israel and the Arabs since 1946, On Revolt: Strategies of National Liberation, and Dynamics of the Armed Struggle.  MR. taught at Columbia University, was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and founded teh conlsulting firm International Analysis Centre. Mr. Bell died in August of 2003.
