About the Program

Book TV presents the 60th annual National Book Awards from New York City.    Finalists in the non-fiction category are David Carroll, Following the Water: A Hydromancer's Notebook, Sean Carroll, Remarkable Creatures: Epic Adventures in the Search for the Origins of Species, Greg Grandin, Fordlandia: The Rise and Fall of Henry Ford's Forgotten Jungle City, Adrienne Mayor, The Poison King: The Life and Legend of Mithradates Rome's Deadliest Enemy, and T.J. Stiles, The First Tycoon: The Epic Life of Cornelius Vanderbilt.  The National Book Foundation presents a Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters to Gore Vidal and a Literarian Award for Outstanding Service to the American Literary Community to Dave Eggers.  The event is hosted by Andy Borowitz at Cipriani in New York City.
