About the Program

Jeffrey Haas, co-founder of the People's Law Office whose clients included the Black Panthers and Students for a Democratic Society, recounts the death of Fred Hampton, head of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party on December 4, 1969.  Mr. Haas recalls his efforts to prove that Fred Hampton's death was premeditated by the FBI and the Chicago police department.  Jefrrey Haas presents his book followed by a panel discussion on Fred Hampton that includes, Martha Biondi, Northwestern University, Adam Green, University of Chicago, labor organizer Prexy Nesbitt, attorney Flint Taylor, Salim Mukakkil, In These Times, and Barbara Ransby and David Stovall, University of Illinois-Chicago.  The event takes places at the Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago.
