About the Program

Woody Holton, author of the National Book Award nominated Unruly Americans, presents a biography of Abigail Adams.  Mr. Holton focuses on Abigail Adams's writings and reports that she championed the education of women and decried sexual discrimination.  Her written debates included correspondences with her husband, John Adams, as well as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.  Woody Holton discusses his book at the Massachusetts Historical Society in Boston.  The Chicago Tribune selected Abigail Adams as one of their notable books of 2009.

About the Authors

Woody Holton

Woody Holton is the author of Unruly Americans and the Origins of the Constitution that was a finalist for the National Book Award in Nonfiction in 2007.  Mr. Holton is a history professor at the University of Richmond.
