About the Program

Lewis Sorley recalls the second half of the Vietnam War, from the arrival of General Abrams through the fall of Saigon.  It was recently reported that military officers were reading Mr. Sorley's book (originally published in 1999) to gain insight on what to do in Afghanistan.   Lewis Sorley discusses his book and takes national phone calls on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal."

Lewis Sorley is also the author of "A Better War: The Unexamined Victories and Final Tragedy of America’s Last Years in Vietnam" as well as "Thunderbolt: General Creighton Abrams and the Army of His Times." He is a graduate of West Point and was executive director of a tank batallion during the Vietnam War.
