About the Program
Environmental journalist Amanda Little presents a history of fossil fuel use in America. The author reflects on her own ties to fossil fuels, from its proclivity in plastics and medicines to the powering of our cars and homes. Ms. Little reports that the era of cheap fossil fuel is nearing an end and focuses on alternative energy options from the world's largest wind farm to the Pentagon's use of renewable energy. Amanda Little discusses her book at the Mulberry Street Branch of the New York Public Library in New York City.

Amanda Little has reported on energy, technology, and the environment for over a decade. She wrote the syndicated column, Muckraker for Salon.com and Grist.org as well as the monthly column, Code Green for Outside magazine. Her writing has appeared in several publications, including Vanity Fair, Wired, and Rolling Stone. She is the recipient of the Jane Bagley Lehman Award for excellence in environmental journalism.
