The Death of Conservatism

Sam Tanenhaus

About the Program

The New York Times Book Review editor argues that conservatism seeks to destroy civil society through ideological warfare, rather than preserve traditions.  He says that the GOP and the conservative movement are not one in the same, that there are two kinds of conservatives: realists who recognize reasonable needs for government, and those who distrust and hate government.  The event was taped at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington.
