Jon Meacham recounts the presidential tenure of Andrew Jackson in American Lion the winner of the 2009 Pulitzer Prize in Biography.   Mr. Meacham contends that President Jackson was a man of many contradictions who was responsible for the removal of Indians from their land and alternately encouraged granting greater power to the electorate.  Andrew Jackson died at the age of 78 on June 8, 1845.  Jon Meachem discusses the founder of the Democratic party and American's seventh president at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta.
