About the Program

Investigative journalist Philip Shenon explores the history of the 9/11 commission in "The Commission: The Uncensored History of the 9/11 Investigation." Mr. Shenon recounts the research and drafting of "The 9/11 Commission Report" and profiles the commission’s members, including its chairman Tom Kean, vice chairman Lee Hamilton and executive director, Philip Zelikow. Mr. Shenon reports that Mr. Zelikow’s former ties with the Bush administration gave the apperance of a potential conflict of interest throughout the investigation.  Philip Shenon discusses his book with Michael Duffy, assistant managing editor at Time magazine.

Philip Shenon is an investigative journalist for the New York Times where he has worked for over twenty years. He has held several positions at the New York Times's Washington bureau, including chief Defense Department correspondent and Justice Department correspondent.

Michael Duffy is the assistant managing editor of Time magazine where he has worked since 1985. Mr. Duffy is the co-author with Nancy Gibbs of "The Preacher and the Presidents: Billy Graham in the White House."
