About the Program
Elizabeth Norman appeared on Booknotes in August 1999 to talk about her book, "We Band of Angels: The Untold Story of American Nurses Trapped on Bataan by the Japanese." The book tells the story of 99 Army and Navy nurses who, along with other U.S. troops, were forced to surrender to the Japanese in the Philippines following the Japanese surprise attack there on December 8, 1941.
