About the Program

Norman Schwarzkopf appeared on Booknotes in 1992 to talk about his autobiography, "It Doesn't Take a Hero." In  the book, Gen. Schwarzkopf discussed his military career and explained how the motto "duty, honor, country" helped mold him into an American leader.  Norman Schwarzkopf passed away on December 27, 2012, at the age of 78.

Norman Schwarzkopf was a United States Army general who served as commander of the Coalition Forces in the 1991 Gulf War. He also served as a military analyst for Operation Iraqi Freedom and is an honorary board member of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
