About the Program

Marian Fontana recounts the first year of coping with the death of her husband Dave, a member of the New York Fire Department, on September 11, 2001 in her memoir, "A Widow's Walk: A 9/11 Memoir." The author's husband, Squad 1 Firefighter Dave Fontana, died on their eighth wedding anniversary at the World Trade Center site. Ms. Fontana describes explaining the tragedy to her then five-year-old son and becoming a leader in a circle of grieving women and the president of the 9/11 Widows and Victims' Family Association. This event was hosted by Old First Reformed Church in Brooklyn, New York.
