On September 8, 1900, a hurricane struck Galveston, Texas, taking more than 6,000 lives and destroying 3,700 buildings. Erik Larson describes the hurricane and its aftermath. He also tells the story of scientist and meteorologist Isaac Cline, who had long predicted that a hurricane could never strike a Texas city. Mr. Larson speaks at WordsWorth Books in Cambridge, Massachusetts along with meteorologist Mish Michaels.
