About the Program
Paul Dickson and Thomas Allen discuss their book, "The Bonus Army: An American Epic." In the summer of 1932, at the height of the Depression, some forty-five thousand World War I veterans descended on Washington, D.C. to demand the bonuses promised them eight years earlier for their wartime service. President Roosevelt ordered the U.S. Army to remove the war veterans on July 28, 1932.
