About the Program

From the Gilder Lehrman Center in New York City, Ron Chernow talks about his biography of the chief author of The Federalist papers, Alexander Hamilton. Mr. Chernow examines the life and career of the Founding Father from his upbringing, his military background, and his feuds with the other Founding Fathers, to his premature death at the age of 49.  Alexander Hamilton was appointed the first Secretary of the United States Department of the Treasury on September 11, 1789.

Ron Chernow is the author of several books including, "The House of Morgan," "The Warburgs," and his biography of John D. Rockefeller, "The Titan," a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist.
