Australian Robert Hughes, who died on August 6, 2012, had been an art critic for Time magazine for more than 25 years. His books included “Heaven and Hell in Western Art,” “The Shock of the New,” “The Fatal Shore,” “The Culture of Complaint,” “Barcelona,” and a collection of reviews, “Nothing If Not Critical.”
