About the Program
In this Encore Booknotes from December 1997, author Sally Quinn discusses her book "The Party: A Guide to Adventurous Entertaining." In "The Party," Ms. Quinn shares her expertise as a Washington hostess to illustrate how to entertain for any occasion. The book includes a checklist of ideas to help make decisions such as when the party should be held, which foods to serve and how to choose guests. Ms. Quinn recounts her own experiences with some of the famous guests who have attended her parties.
Sally Quinn
Sally Quinn was for many years a political reporter for The Washington Post. She covered the Washington, DC social scene as well as national politics. Ms. Quinn is the author of "Happy Endings," "Regrets Only" and "We’re Going to Make You a Star." She lives in Washington, DC with her husband, Ben Bradlee, the former executive editor of The Washington Post.
