John Bemelmans Marciano talks about the reasons behind the U.S. never adopting the metric system, even though it was championed by Thomas Jefferson and other founders.  He also talks about the failed efforts to convert over to the metric system during the 1970s.  Mr. Marciano spoke at Word Bookstore in Brooklyn, New York.

John Bemelmans Marciano is the author and illustrator of several children's books, including "Madeline at the White House" and "Harold's Tail."  His grandfather, Ludwig Bemelmans, was the creator of the Madeline books.
