About the Program
From the 2001 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, author Stanley Karnow talked about the involvement of the United States in the Vietnam War. Mr. Karnow, the author of "Vietnam: A History," was in Vietnam as a correspondent for TIME magazine when the first two American military advisors were killed in 1959. Mr. Karnow discussed the reasons he believed that America got involved in Vietnam, what went wrong, and what America has learned since the conflict. After the presentation the author answered questions from members of the audience.
