About the Program

Danielle Allen, author of "Our Declaration: A Reading of the Declaration of Independence in Defense of Equality," and Joseph Ellis, author of "Revolutionary Summer: The Birth of American Independence," appeared at the Printers Row Lit Fest in Chicago to talk about their books.  Both authors took questions from the audience following their discussion. 
 

About the Authors

Joseph Ellis

Joseph Ellis is professor of history emeritus at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. Prof. Ellis' book, "Founding Brothers," was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and his biography of Thomas Jefferson, "American Sphinx," was awarded the National Book Award.  For more, visit: JosephEllisHistorian.com.

Danielle Allen is a professor of social science at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. Prof. Allen's books include, "Talking to Strangers" and "Why Plato Wrote."
