About the Program
Steven Pressman recounts the efforts of Gilbert and Eleanor Kraus to rescue fifty Jewish children from Nazi-controlled Vienna in 1939. The couple, from Philadelphia, had become exasperated with U.S. immigration laws and was determined to allow entry to the children. The author, whose wife is the granddaughter of the Kraus', utilized personal papers and archival information to report on the rescue. Steven Pressman speaks at Book Passage Bookstore in Corte Madera, California.
