After Words

After Words: Walid Phares, "The Lost Spring: U.S. Policy in the Middle East and Catastrophes to Avoid," hosted by Joshua Muravchik, Johns Hopkins SAIS

About the Program

Mr. Phares argues that the U.S. has been making policy missteps in the Middle East, as a result of being too under the influence of oil companies.  He analyzes the events of the Arab Spring and asserts that Washington entered the conflicts too late - and allied with the wrong side.  He predicts a major breakdown in Middle East policymaking for Western nations and explains what policy changes he believes should be made.  He talks with  Joshua Muravchik of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
