About the Program


Bing West has written or co-written seven non-fiction books:

Small Unit Action in Vietnam Summer 1966 (1967); The Village (1972); The March Up: Taking Baghdad with the United States Marines (2004); No True Glory: A Frontline Account of the Battle for Fallujah (2005); The Strongest Tribe: War, Politics and the End Game in Iraq (2008); The Wrong War: Grit, Strategy and the Way Out of Afghanistan (2011); and Into the Fire: A First-hand Account of the Most Extraordinary Battle of the Afghan War (2012).

About the Authors

Bing West

Bing West served as Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs under President Reagan and was a Marine infantry officer during the Vietnam War.  He's a former analyst for the RAND Corporation and a former president of GAMA Corporation, which designed war games simulations.  He's a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Middle East Institute.  He's also the recipient of the Department of Defense's Distinguished Public Service Medal.
