Ishmael Beah

About the Program

Ishmael Beah talks about his novel about life in Sierra Leone following the Civil War that ended in 2002.  Beah was a child soldier in the civil war and wrote about his experiences in the memoir, "A Long Way Gone."  This event was held at Book People in Austin, Texas.

Ishmael Beah is a UNICEF Ambassador and Advocate for Children Affected by War and the president of the Ishmael Beah Foundation.  Mr. Beah wrote about his experiences fighting in the Sierra Leone Civil War in the book "A Long Way Gone," which has been published in 40 languages around the world.  For more, visit:
