About the Program
Historian Joshua Zeitz examines Abraham Lincoln's presidential tenure through the eyes of his secretaries, John Hay and John Nicolay. The author reports that these two men, who were closer to Lincoln than anyone outside of his immediate family, were witness to the President's public and private moments during the Civil War. Following the President's death, Hay and Nicolay shaped the way Lincoln would be remembered with their biography of the 16th President. Joshua Zeitz speaks at DeKalb County Public Library in Decatur, Georgia.
